Holiday Sale Time…Almost

Switching gears now, I'm happy to announce my annual Holiday Sale on Etsy will start on Wednesday, November 26. Everything will be 25% off and I'm excited to try something new this time around: some special promotions and deals. I'm even more excited to say I'll be introducing a few more new designs, too! The sale will run through December 15 for on-time delivery. Shipping is always free to customers in the US and for this year's sale, I'm offering $10 shipping for customers outside the US. More details to come!

And, in the coming weeks I'll be announcing a few more exciting things… see you soon!

To Good Homes

My Etsy Holiday Sale runs through the end of today and I must give a huge thanks to everyone who purchased something since it started back in November. What a great response! It's been fun to fill your orders and ship my work around the U.S. and even to a few very faraway places like England, Australia, and Canada. It's also been wonderful to see the response to my new collection, "History Repeats." Once I ship all my Valentines's Day gallery orders next week, I will pick up where I left off by adding a few more pieces to that group. But for now, there are lots of great pieces to choose from in my shop both from my collections and some one-of-a-kinds.

So thanks...thanks for supporting me through purchasing and by telling your friends, selecting pieces for your Etsy Treasuries, and liking things on Facebook! You are awesome.

History Repeats

My Anchor

Since the day after Thanksgiving and the start of my Etsy Holiday Sale, I've been introducing new pieces focusing on the teardrop and bow and brass. Then more recently, I added the rose and anchor. I realized today what has developed is a lovely collection using my current favorite shapes and symbols and fueled by my interests in memory, sentiment, historical jewelry, traditional tattoos, and signs of age. As I drove in my car yesterday, I finally came up with a title, too, "History Repeats." This seems appropriate because the work is about history/memory as I revisit ideas and interests from my recent past.

Rose Bouquet

When I launched my sale a few weeks ago I had lots of drawings and ideas for this new collection. Some of these made it into actual pieces while others never made it past the paper maquettes. At one point I wasn't even into it anymore, but now I really like what's happening. There are 16 pieces so far...

Since reentering the "real world" post-Penland and Belgium, I have returned my focus to production jewelry and will continue to do so in the coming months as get my feet back on the ground and before I return to Europe in the spring. I am happy for the break from one-of-a-kind and look forward to making more pieces like the ones I've been introducing lately--something is going on here and I'm curious to see what  happens next. I hope you like them, too.

Seven...

I'll be taking a break from the studio starting today to spend some long-overdue time with my family in Upstate NY. I'll be back in early January working away in my studio at 7 Ton Letterpress Collective in Asheville alongside three of the sweetest letterpress printmakers I know. Until then thanks for making my Etsy Holiday Sale a huge success and for your constant support and kind words. You are good to me.

It's Holiday Time

The Holiday season is always hectic in the studio. This (see above image) is just a portion of what I've been churning out the last couple of days after returning from the symposium at VCU. I'm officially in machine-mode. Plus, leave it to my recently-returned-to-the-US-and-just-moved scattered brain to miscalculate my timing. I know we all feel Thanksgiving's early presence this year...

I just shipped bunches of work off to many of my galleries and will ship the rest on Friday. AND, I'm nearly done with the new pieces I've been talking about the last few weeks. These will be available on Friday when my Etsy Holiday Sale starts. Please check back here for another Sneak Peek tomorrow and, stay tuned, I'm pretty sure I've got a few tricks up my sleeve.

Holiday Sale Sneak Peek (Sort Of)

My studio is currently in a state of total transition. See above. I moved everything out of storage and into my new space and my new apartment the other day. I've been so busy with moving and all that goes with it that I have not been at my bench. I planned to have some new pieces to show today for my first Sneak-Peek, but I don't. How about a sketch then? I will also say the work is going to be 25% off during the sale!

More next week, I promise.

sale update

just a few bits about the sale...

the last day to order for guaranteed holiday shipping is tuesday, december 15. i will be closing my studio for my own holiday break at that time. any orders received after december 15 will be filled when i return to my studio on january 4.

i forgot to mention the sweet letterpress cards that currently come with orders. when i lived in portland, or rachel wiecking of matador press made these for me. then maybe last year she sent me a box of extras she found in her studio. i've been hanging on to them, waiting for a special occasion to give them away - my holiday sale and 5 year anniversary seemed like an excellent time.
and finally, the new boxes. dark lavender. i love the way this color looks with my signature turquoise.

the sale is on!

my annual holiday sale and my 5 year anniversary celebration has begun! all collection jewelry is 25% off and shipping is free. plus, if you order $75 or more you will get a free plastic egg necklace in the color of your choice while supplies last. (when i email you order confirmation i will ask for your color preference.) additionally, i have pulled lots of items out of retirement from all of my collections including my signature collection (like my original signature piece "ratio times one" above). you will find these pieces listed in my current preface, egg & bean, and steel + gold collections with each retired item listed at the top. and finally, i just listed some unique pieces at my etsy shop – mostly things i made fresh out of college, little experiments, and some one-of-a-kind rings. these pieces are all on sale and can be found alongside my remaining jewelry of the month pieces on etsy.

the sale and celebration will last through january and end on the 31st. at that time my collections on my website, along with my etsy and supermarket shops, will disappear and i will begin my break from production jewelry. i will introduce brand new collections in the future, although i don’t know exactly when. you will of course get a newsletter when it’s time.

please email me at amy@amytavern.com if you have any questions!

sale reminder

my annual holiday sale begins on monday, nov 23rd. as usual all collection jewelry will be 25%* off. this year also marks the 5th year of my website and to celebrate i am also offering free shipping on all orders and a free plastic egg necklace (color of your choice, while supplies last) with any purchase of $75 or more. in addition, i am pulling some older items out of retirement. these will be on sale at deeper discounts. you will be able to find them spread out among my three collections with all of them listed at the top of the page. and one more thing, i am going to add some older, but fun and interesting work to my etsy site. these pieces are mostly little things i made in college or just after i graduated as well as some one-of-a-kind rings. these will be on sale, too.

i should also mention that this sale marks the end of my collections for now. as of january 31 i will retire everything completely and will take a break from production/collection work for awhile, maybe a year. it's time for me to really focus on my residency work and i think it's important to have a clean slate. i will return to production jewelry in the future but it will be all new and most likely very different from my current collections. i still have a lot of work to do to prep the site for the sale and i must say i am really eager to get this one started. 5 years...very cool.

*sale does not include very thin gold rings, studio jewelry, wedding rings, wholesale orders, or custom designs.

my big news

just about a week ago i emailed my fall newsletter and announced that i will be taking an indefinite hiatus from my collections while i pursue my one-of-a-kind studio jewelry here at penland. this will begin at the end of january. i got some sincere and much appreciated words of support and excitement from lots of people which made me feel even better about my decision. (thanks to all of you!) i also announced my 5 year online anniversary and holiday sale which begins on november 23. if you haven't heard this news, here are a few excerpts from my newsletter:

"my first summer as a penland resident artist is over and i am looking forward to the much quieter seasons ahead. the last couple of months have been intense and have brought about a great deal of change for me and my work. this residency is my time for exploration and contemplation and i must take advantage. i have decided to take an indefinite hiatus from my collections and will not be introducing any new work next spring as i usually do each year. instead, i will retire my collections altogether. i know this may come as a surprise; it was definitely not an easy decision to come to, but i know now is the right time to take such a risk. additionally, i will be taking a break from shows and exhibitions and jewelry of the month. i have loved bringing interesting and affordable designs to you over the past 5 years. it has been such a pleasure and i thank you for all your business and support.

in other big news, this october marks my 5 year online anniversary. 5 years ago i introduced my website and was featured in lucky magazine which was the biggest kick for my work and my business. my website and my jewelry have evolved over the years and i have enjoyed it all very much, but the time has come to say goodbye for now.

starting november 23 please join me in celebrating the last 5 years. not only will all collection pieces be 25% off but i will also offer FREE SHIPPING on all orders, EXTRA DISCOUNTS on select items including some retired items, and a FREE PLASTIC EGG NECKLACE (you get to choose the color) with all orders of $75 or more. i really want to say thanks in a big way to all of you and it is my pleasure to offer these special deals.

the celebration and sale will end on January 31 and my egg and bean, steel and gold, and preface collections will disappear from my website. my etsy and supermarket shops will also disappear. i will always honor repairs on collection items you have purchased over the years and will be happy to make earrings matches, however, i will not accept any special orders on any retired pieces."
