From the "Vault"

I recently got a few older pieces back from a gallery in London and, instead of shipping them to another gallery, I decided to put them on Etsy. I don't offer many one-of-a-kind pieces there so I like adding a few now and again. Getting these pieces back was perfect timing! You'll find unique Line Drawings and two enameled necklaces, all included in the 25% off sale. The Line Drawings have a sculptural presence and the enameled pieces were based on winter observations made while living in Penland, NC. Each enameled plate depicts a different observation of snow and ice.

Ghost Drawings

Every once in awhile I get a request for my Line Drawing Earrings in bright and shiny silver, instead of the original oxidized patina. Then recently, one of my galleries requested a set of basic Line Drawing earrings in this lighter version to complement the original styles they currently have. Now I bring these bright and shiny, whisper-light versions to you. The shiny surface is sparkling and reflective and just adds to the barely-there feeling. Incredibly wearable, minimal, and elegant, these earrings are perfect for every day.

Line Drawings All Week, Part 3

Today's piece...A Line Drawing Pendant. This style of Line Drawing is my favorite to create. I begin by making individual circles and arcs, then I solder two different clusters of both elements, and finish by soldering the two halves together to create a 3-dimensional form.

Line Drawing Diversion

Two of the pieces currently on view in the Aaron Faber exhibition "In Line/In Metal" include Line Drawing No. 8 and Cluster Necklace No. 2. Once again my photographer, Hank Drew, did an amazing job with my images--I love how the lighting and shadow in both detail shots effectively extends the drawings into space.

My Line Drawing Brooch and Folded Arc Necklace and Earrings are also a part of the exhibition.

auction prep: regal graffiti

for the past few weeks i've been making lots of work for the annual penland benefit auction. on saturday, august 14th the residents will host a special show and sale at 9am. it's called "breakfast at the barns" and auction-goers who attend get a lovely handmade mug for their coffee along with breakfast goodies to enjoy as they visit our studios and shop. last year's event was a huge success and we are all hoping for a repeat this year.

i made a number of new spray painted pieces including some single pendants, lots of earrings, and a few big necklaces. my color palate at the moment is red-light blue-yellow-hot pink-white. in the past i've hesitated a lot before painting the work, debating which colors to use and how to layer them, but i've found in making this work that i really like these specific colors and i am comfortable with them. painting was easy and i barely had to think.

i also created a new spray booth which has been great to use. it's safer and efficient and that makes spray painting so much easier.
