Guest Star #121...Tobias Alm

I recently spent a bunch of time moving through page after page on Apparat and came upon the work of Tobias Alm. I was instantly attracted to the forms, the details, and the visual movement of his work. There is a lovely balance of the rough and refined in each piece, too,  and a clear sensitivity in the way the materials have been handled. I also read his statements and was so happy to learn of Tobias' interest in "objects showing signs of use, and marks of history,"  both things I am interested in and try to convey in my own work.

Guest Star #93...Arnaud Sprimont

A few years ago Arnaud Sprimont featured my work on his contemporary jewelry website, Apparat.  Then a few weeks ago I met him at the exhibition Patro(o)n here in Belgium. (How cool is that?!) We had a nice visit that day. It was great to meet him! Arnaud's work is an exploration of nanometrics and the chaos of human existence. As he told me, he takes a nanometric element or vision of the body and translates it into jewelry forms, specifically the brooch, to show that humans are constantly evolving. He sand casts his pieces in Shibuichi and creates structured organic forms with wonderful color and texture.
